Roberto Reale：　Video Games

Il Giappone è un paese rinomato in tutto il mondo per la qualità dei videogiochi prodotti. Passando dal Nintendo a Street Fighter 2, dalla PlayStation fino alla mefitica saga di Final Fantasy, l'eccezionalità dei prodotti videoludici nati nella terra del Sol Levante è stata tale da far nascere anche in Italia una grande passione per i videogiochi nipponici tutt'oggi in crescita.

Japan is a country renowned worldwide for the quality of the video games it produces. From Nintendo to Street Fighter 2, and PlayStation to the magnificent Final Fantasy saga, the excellence of the video game products developed in the Land of the Rising Sun is such that it has created a big fanbase in Italy.

L'intrattenimento elettronico ha raggiunto nel tempo un giro milionario e rappresenta oggi una cospiqua fetta di mercato. L'utenza è rappresentata principalmente dai tantissimi giovani che oggi affollano i numerosi negozi di videogiochi, ma anche di coloro che durante l'infanzia hanno vissuto la nascita di questa nuova epoca, ai tempi del Game Boy e delle primissime (e costose) console.

Over time, this electronic entertainment has reached a huge share of the global market. The audience is mostly represented by young people who flock to the shops of video games, but also those who during their childhood experienced the birth of this new era; in the time of Game Boy and the very first (expensive) consoles.

Il settore videoludico sembra in continuo sviluppo, e il futuro dei videogiochi sembra piu che mai splendente. Quali saranno le sorprese dei big dell'elettronica? Quali saranno le più grandi innovazioni del futuro prossimo? Fino a che punto si spingeranno le case produttrici per realizzare i sogni dei milioni di gamers nel mondo?

The video games industry seems to be in constant development, and video games seem to have a bright future. What will be the next surprise of the big electronics companies? What will be the greatest innovations of the near future? How far will manufacturers push in order to realize gamers' dreams?

Ali Broadstone: A trip to Nara


My Japanese friend recently took me to Nara. It was a very fun trip! I have been living in Osaka for some time, but I had not had the chance to visit Nara. My friend's father drove us there and we went to see various shrines and temples.
The deer were quite friendly. I am used to seeing deer as there are many in the United States, but I did not expect them to walk right up to me. The deer in the United States run away if you get too close to them. They were probably hungry, so I bought them some food and fed them in Nara Park. My friend, however, does not like animals. I kept the deer away from her.
The people I met in Nara were friendly and relaxed. The atmosphere felt very peaceful and the food I ate was very tasty.
At the end of the day, I bought a doll of Sento-kun to bring home with me. I thought he was very cute. My friend thought it was funny that I would want a stuffed animal. But I wanted the doll to remind me of the fun day I spent with her. Now, Sento-kun sits on my desk at home. I hope to go back to Nara soon to explore.

Thiago: My São Paulo

São Paulo é uma cidade cosmopolita e retentora do lema “NON DVCOR DVCO” (Não sou conduzido, conduzo), tema da cidade mais pujante da América Latina. Dentro dos seus bairros conhecemos um pouco mais da composição da cidade: da Mooca italiana, a Liberdade japonesa, do brooklin americano, ao Brás Boliviano,  Higienópolis judeu, entre tantos outros. Centro cultural da America Latina, temos museus como o MASP ou a Pinacoteca, assim como o Museu da lingua Portuguesa e o Museu do futebol.


A minha São Paulo é uma cidade que acorda cedo para ir a feira para comer pastel com suco de cana e, no café-da-manhã comer pão na chapa com pingado**. Se aventura no metro da Sé na hora do rush. Almoça correndo um prato feito na padaria e, na saida do trabalho encara aquela garoa fina no caminho do futebol com os amigos.


Aos finais de semana, gostava de acordar tarde e almoçar comida japonesa na feira da liberdade com amigos, depois iamos para a praça Benedito Calixo com sua feira de antiguidades guiadas pelo um bom choro ao vivo e muitos doces. Mais a noite, iamos à Augusta, onde iamos em algum boteco ou padaria; bebendo uma cerveja e proseando com os amigos até a madrugada.

Lu Jing：花见　Hanami

 在中国有一首很有名的日本歌曲”SAKURA”，曲调优美，中国人由此知道了有一种美丽的花叫樱花。

In China, there is a famous Japanese song called Sakura. The melody is very graceful so we know that the flower must be beautiful.

 日本人对樱花情有独钟，每年四月是樱花盛开的时节，随处可见樱花林，樱花山，日本成了樱花的海洋。

Japanese people have a soft spot for cherry blossom. Every April when the flowers are in full bloom, we can see cherry blossom everywhere in the woods and mountains, as if Japan becomes a sea of cherry blossom.


 每到春天樱花盛开的季节，人们结伴而行，家人，同事，朋友一起去赏花。日语写作”花见”。花见(Hanami)是日本独特的赏花方式，人们群聚于各地赏樱名所，在美丽的樱花树下铺上席子或者塑料布，摆上酒菜，举杯畅饮，谈笑风生。

Every spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, people go to admire the beautiful flowers together with their family, colleagues and friends. It's called hanami in Japanese and is a unique Japanese way of appreciating flowers. There are  many famous sites for hanami in Japan. People gather around the cherry trees and put blue tarpaulin sheets, blankets or chairs under the beautiful cherry blossom, and enjoy eating snacks, toasting each other with their drinks, and talking cheerfully together.

 记得来日本后的第一个春天，和朋友们第一次去赏樱花的时候看到这种情景很是吃惊。本想是会看到很多人一边漫步一边赏樱花的场面，但看到的却是地上铺了很多席子或者塑料布，人们坐在塑料布上享受美酒佳肴的场景。开始觉得那些铺在地上的塑料布有些不太雅观的感觉。不过这才是日本特有的赏花习俗吧。

I still remember my first spring after coming to Japan and I was very surprised to see people enjoying the hanami in this way. I expected to see people just walking under cherry trees, but what I found were many tarpaulin sheets spread on the ground or lots of chairs, and people were enjoying good food and drinks sitting on the sheets. I thought the sheets spoiled the beautiful view but now I know that it's the way Japanese people look at the cherry blossom.

 如果你有时间的话也和朋友一起去赏樱花吧。

Mouyly: Packaging


La première fois où j'ai acheté un cadeau au Japon, j'ai été assez surprise voire sidérée de remarquer à quel point les Japonais attachaient de l'importance aux emballages de leurs produits, qu'ils soient petits, gros, grands, comestibles ou non. Et par temps de pluie, ils en prennent un soin encore plus particulier.

Par exemple, l’autre jour, j'ai acheté une baguette et au moment de payer, la vendeuse, a d'abord enfilé la baguette dans un sac en papier de même longueur puis y a ajouté un sac en plastique enroulé (pour conserver le pain) et enfin, toute aimable, m'a demandé si je voulais un sac en plastique ou en papier pour transporter le tout.

The first time I bought a gift in Japan, I was surprised and even a little bewildered to see how much importance Japanese people attach to the packaging of products, whatever they are and whatever size they are: small, big, tall, edible or not. And on a rainy day, they even take a greater care of them.

For example, the other day I bought a French baguette and while I was paying the shop clerk first stuck it into a paper bag the same length as the bread, then put in a rolled plastic bag (to keep the bread fresh, she said) and finally, very kindly asked me if I wanted another plastic or paper bag to carry the whole thing.

Une autre fois où j'ai acheté un coffret de produits de beauté, j'ai eu droit à un pré-emballage du paquet, puis un papier cadeau si vous voulez offrir, et enfin un sac, ou plutôt deux, le plus souvent en papier pour le transporter plus facilement (le deuxième étant pour la personne à qui vous allez donner le cadeau). Bien entendu, si c'est un jour pluvieux, il va souvent de soi que l'on vous demandera si vous voulez un sac plastique pour couvrir le sac en papier et le protéger ainsi des gouttes d'eau.

Another time when I bought a set of cosmetic products, it was pre-wrapped, then gift-wrapped (as I told the clerk it was a birthday present for a friend) and to finish, the product was put into another bigger bag to carry it around more easily, with a second one (for the person receiving the gift). Naturally, if it is a rainy day, you are asked if you want a plastic cover for the paper bag so that it won’t get wet if you carry it outside.

En France, il en va tout différemment. Il faut même payer, par exemple, les sacs des courses dans les supermarchés. Si vous les retournez après les avoir utilisés, vous serez remboursés. C’est une façon de dire “stop au gaspillage” et de montrer sa prise de conscience envers la protection de l’environnemment.

Récemment, dans les supermarchés japonais aussi, je vois qu’on donne des points eco si vous n'utilisez pas leurs sacs plastiques. Et les Japonais, de plus en plus nombreux maintenant, préfèrent également utiliser des sacs eco pour faire leurs courses ou/et redonnnent aux caissières, ceux qu’ils ont reçus en trop.

In France, things work differently. For example, if you go shopping in a French supermarket, you have to pay for the bags. If you bring them back, you will get your money back. This way, you have a chance to say “stop waste” and show awareness towards the protection of the environment.

Recently, in Japanese supermarkets too, I can see that eco points are offered if you don't use their shopping bags. And Japanese people also prefer, in more and more numbers nowadays, to use their own eco bags when they buy groceries and/or give back to the cashiers the ones they don't need.

Bienvenue donc au pays des emballages. Mais je crois savoir aussi que le système de recyclage des déchets au Japon est l'un des meilleurs et des plus efficaces au monde, aussi bien au niveau individuel que national.
Même si cela n’est pas encore généralisé partout, les efforts pour réduire la consommation des sacs et des emballages va dans cette direction.

Welcome to the land of packaging. However, I think the system of waste recycling in Japan is one of the best and the most efficient in the world, at an individual level as well as national level.

Even though it hasn't become widespread everywhere yet, efforts to reduce (too much) use of bags and packaging is going in the right direction.
