Learning from Sports
I have played semi-professional soccer and I
love sports. I have learned that playing sports is not just about competition
and winning. There is so much we can learn by participating in sports. Let’s
talk about what sports can teach us about ourselves and other people. How does
sport benefit our minds and our bodies? How does playing in a team help people?
What are the pros and cons of children playing sports? Can playing sports help
us in our careers and personal life? How does sport benefit society? I would
like to hear what you think about this topic.

Food For Thought
I have been cooking for years now. I enjoy the challenge and the reward of
a good meal. However, the older I get the more I find myself thinking about
issues surrounding food. In the US, we talk of GMOs, organic food and grass-fed
meats, as well as free range poultry. In Japan, I find people are often
concerned with importation and the origins of their foods. Daily I find myself
contemplating other issues as well. Saving money by cooking vs. saving time by
eating out, my nutritional balance, and whether it is practical to think so hard about what I eat. There are many facets behind our daily meal
choices and I am curious what others think.

Japanese Education
System:
Now vs. Then
National education
systems are always changing. Some changes are better received than others. What
changes, big and small, have occurred in the Japanese education system? What
are the pros of cons of these changes? How would you describe the “Japanese
Style” of education? Do you think other countries could adopt and benefit from
the Japanese style of education?
