Filipino Trendy Slang Words

By : Lena

In the Philippines, people love making up new words! Three recent favorites are "Sanaol", "Lodi" and “Awit

Sanaol / Sana all

"Sanaol" is like a shortcut for saying "I wish I had that too!" For example, if your friend gets a cool gift, you might say, "Sanaol!" It's like saying, "I wish I had that too!"

Lodi / Lods

"Lodi" is a fun way to say "idol." You know, someone you look up to. But now, it's not just for famous people. You can call your best friend or anyone you like "Lodi" too!

Awit

"Awit" is a Filipino slang word that combines "aw" and "sakit" to express pain or disappointment. It's like saying "ouch" when something goes wrong or you feel bad about something.

These words show how the language in the Philippines is always changing and growing, just like the people who speak it!
So, next time you hear these words, you'll know what's up in Filipino conversations!
