One of the most exciting parts of a Filipino wedding is the bride’s elegant wedding dress. Most brides wear a long white gown with a veil, similar to Western-style weddings. The groom often wears a formal suit or the traditional Barong Tagalog, which adds a touch of Filipino culture to the celebration.
Another special part of Filipino
weddings is the meaningful traditions during the ceremony. One popular
tradition is the arras ceremony, where
the groom gives the bride 13 coins as a symbol of prosperity and support. There
is also the veil ceremony, where a veil is placed over the couple to symbolize
unity and protection. During the cord ceremony, a decorative cord is wrapped
around the bride and groom to represent everlasting love and togetherness.
Entertainment
is another reason why Filipino weddings are memorable. Guests enjoy singing,
dancing, games, speeches, and video presentations about the couple’s love
story. Some weddings even include the famous money dance, where guests pin
money onto the bride and groom while dancing to help them start their new life
together.
