Pet Situation in Cebu

I still remember back in 2010, Parkmall Cebu was the very first mall to open its doors to pets. It was hard to believe because this initiative was new and the first of its kind in Cebu.
At that time, I was still active in dog rescue and local shelter support, so I quickly informed our small community and proudly announced it. We were all excited and felt understood as pet owners. We all know how much of a struggle it is to raise, rescue, and even bring pets to malls.
Cebuano residents responded to this breakthrough with enthusiasm and excitement, and it quickly went viral. Photos and videos were posted all over the internet and social media.
Over time, more modern pet-friendly policies and outdoor dining spaces were introduced, which were greatly appreciated by residents of Cebu City. It slowly changed the way people viewed pets in public areas, making them more accepted in everyday life.
This shift also encouraged responsible pet ownership, as owners became more mindful of cleanliness, behavior, and respect for shared spaces.
