The next day I went to visit Miyajima, so again I woke up early and set off for the train station. I took the ferry over to the island, which was beautiful. The weather was a lot warmer, with clear blue skies. The first thing I wanted to do was to touch the sea from the beach, the water was a lovely shade of blue and it reminded me of going on holiday to different countries with my family when I was growing up. As I left the beach I came across some deer, it was amusing watching them pestering people for food, following people wherever they went. Unfortunately, the Floating Torii Gate in the sea was still being repaired so it was covered in scaffolding, but that's okay, it just means I will have to visit again when it has been completed! I found a restaurant that served anago on rice, it was my first time trying it and it was really delicious. With the food I also tried the Miyajima beer, it was very good and the perfect drink for a hot day.
For my final evening I went to a famous okonomiyaki restaurant, I had to wait for two hours but it was more than worth the wait. I sat at the counter and could watch the chefs making all of the okonomiyaki, it was amazing. I had shrimp, squid and mozzarella in my okonomiyaki, I quickly devoured it and after I couldn't move, I was so full. Eventually, I made my way back to the hotel, I noticed there were lots of people wearing the Hiroshima Carps uniform. It was my first experience of seeing baseball fans, as in the UK we don't have baseball.
The next day it was time to go back to Osaka. I had a really good time in Hiroshima and hope I can visit again some day!
翌日は宮島に行くため、また早起きして駅へと出発しました。フェリーで宮島へと渡り、到着した島はとてもきれいでした。澄んだ青空が広がり、気温もぐっと上がりました。海はとてもきれいな青色で、子供の頃、家族で様々な国へ旅行に行ったことを思い出させてくれました。海辺を離れた後、私は食べ物を求めてどこまでも人についていく鹿と遭遇し、とても面白いと思いました。 残念ながら、海に浮かぶ鳥居はまだ修理中で、足場に覆われていましたが、それはそれで、再び完成した際に訪れる理由となりました。また、宮島には穴子丼のお店があり、初めて食べましたが、とてもおいしかったです。料理と一緒に宮島ビールも試しましたが、とても美味しくて、暑い日にぴったりの飲み物でした。
